International accreditation JCI

In December 2021, the Medpark International Hospital in the Republic of Moldova obtained the Gold Seal of Approval® certificate from the Joint Commission International for the third time – an accreditation that confirms the continuous compliance of the quality of medical services and patient safety with globally recognized standards. Currently, only 939 medical institutions worldwide hold this accreditation, and less than 5% of applicants succeed in demonstrating that they meet the requirements for this honorable title.

Medpark International Hospital underwent rigorous scrutiny, during which a team of experts from the Joint Commission International assessed compliance with international hospital standards in various areas, including: International Patient Safety Goals, patient care and assessment, anesthesia and surgical interventions, medication management, patient and family education, quality improvements, infection control and prevention, management and administration, facility management, staff qualification, and information management.

The JCI accreditation process of the Medpark hospital included:

  • Establishing 13 internal committees, consisting of 50 individuals, to manage the implementation process of international standards;
  • Developing and revising 1112 internal documents (policies, procedures, instructions, guidelines);
  • Evaluating 1119 patient safety and medical care quality indicators (measurable elements) by 3 JCI international expert commissions, for 4 days, within the hospital.

As a result of the evaluation, the Medpark International Hospital achieved a compliance rate of 98.82% and commits to continuing to meet international requirements, being monitored remotely and periodically reevaluated by JCI experts.
